Sana Farhani
Amazigh tattooist based in Tamraght, Morocco.
An old wild soul in a modern world.
ORIGIN STORY
Tattooing wasn't a choice, it was a calling. Growing up as an Amazigh woman, Sana watched a living art form fade into the background of a modern world that had little patience for the old ways. The geometric marks her ancestors wore as identity, protection, and rite of passage were disappearing. She picked up a needle to make sure they didn't.
ON THE ART ITSELF
Amazigh tattooing is one of the oldest continuous tattoo traditions on earth. Every line means something. Every placement on the body carries intention. This isn't decoration, it's memory made permanent. Sana works from that language, translating centuries-old symbols into pieces that belong to the person wearing them.
ON WHO SHE TATTOOS
Most of her clients are travellers who find their way to Morocco and feel something shift. They don't always know exactly what they want and that's fine. The design conversation is part of the process. Nothing gets put on skin until it feels right for the person and honest to the culture.
ON WHY IT MATTERS
#AMAZIGH_TATTOO_STILL_ALIVE isn't just a hashtag. It's a statement of resistance. Every tattoo Sana makes is proof that this tradition survived and that someone cared enough to carry it forward.
